WCAG AAA Level

The enhanced conformance level of WCAG, requiring a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 for normal text and 4.5:1 for large text.

WCAG AAA represents the highest level of accessibility and benefits users with moderate visual impairments who do not use assistive technology. While AAA is not typically required by law, striving for AAA contrast improves readability for all users, including those viewing screens in bright sunlight, older adults with declining vision, and anyone experiencing eye fatigue. Achieving AAA across an entire website can be challenging, especially for brand colors, so a practical approach is to ensure body text meets AAA while allowing UI accents to meet AA.
