A structured combination of colors based on their positions on the color wheel, following established harmony rules.
Color schemes provide systematic approaches to selecting harmonious colors. The main types are monochromatic (one hue with varied lightness/saturation), analogous (adjacent hues), complementary (opposite hues), split-complementary (one hue plus two flanking its complement), triadic (three equally spaced hues), and tetradic (two complementary pairs). Each scheme produces a different visual character: analogous feels cohesive, complementary feels dynamic, and triadic feels balanced yet vibrant. Choosing the right scheme depends on the project's goals, audience, and the emotional tone desired.
