Color Psychology

Green Effect

The documented psychological phenomenon where the color green reduces stress, enhances well-being, and signals growth, safety, and environmental awareness.

Green occupies a unique position in human perception as the color we can distinguish the most shades of, likely because of our evolutionary history in green forest environments. Exposure to green environments (or even green-tinted light) has been shown to reduce cortisol levels and improve mood, a phenomenon known as 'green exercise effect.' In design, green universally signals 'go,' 'success,' and 'safe,' making it the standard for success states in UI, traffic signals, and financial gains. Green is also strongly associated with sustainability and environmental consciousness. In branding, green conveys health, freshness, and natural quality.
