Color Theory

Secondary Colors

Colors created by mixing two primary colors in equal proportions.

In the RYB model, the secondary colors are orange (red + yellow), green (yellow + blue), and purple (red + blue). In the RGB model, the secondaries are cyan (green + blue), magenta (red + blue), and yellow (red + green). Secondary colors sit halfway between the primaries on the color wheel and form the next tier in color mixing theory. Understanding secondary colors is essential for predicting the results of color combinations.
