Um espaço de cores perceptualmente uniforme definido pela CIE, no qual as distâncias numéricas entre cores correspondem a diferenças visuais percebidas.
CIELAB uses three axes: L for lightness (0 = black, 100 = white), a for the green-to-red axis, and b* for the blue-to-yellow axis. It was designed to be device-independent and perceptually uniform, meaning a change of one unit should look like the same amount of change regardless of where in the color space it occurs. CIELAB is the basis for Delta E color difference calculations used in quality control and color matching. It is widely used in paint, textile, and food industries where precise color specification is critical.
